My client are a leading supplier of high-quality analog and mixed-signal semiconductor products, with a strong presence in the UK. Their Bristol design centre specializes in optoelectronic ICs, primarily targeting datacom and adjacent markets. Their products range from TIAs, laser drivers, optical receivers, to fully integrated transceiver ICs, supporting data rates from below 1Gbps to over 800Gbps.
At the Bristol location, they manage all facets of product development, from initial concept to full production, including marketing, definition, design, layout, product engineering, validation, test engineering, characterization, qualification, and applications. Their commitment to innovation and differentiation has cemented their leadership in their target markets.
Role Overview :
They are seeking an experienced Principal Analog IC Design Engineer with a proven track record in automotive product development. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in bringing products through the NPI development process—from initial definition to production release—while ensuring compliance with quality, functional safety, and qualification standards.
Responsibilities :
- Lead significant chip development projects, taking on the technical lead role.
- Make key architectural decisions, ensuring all stakeholders are informed.
- Deliver new and innovative solutions, pushing the boundaries of technology.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams (product definition, validation, applications, and test engineering) to ensure the success of each product.
- Mentor and support junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
- Set the standard for clear and professional communication within the design team.
Essential :
- 16+ years of relevant industry experience in Analog IC design.
- Deep and intuitive understanding of CMOS analog circuit design practices.
- Demonstrated innovation in previous roles (e.g., patented ideas).
- Experience as the technical lead on chip development projects.
- Strong knowledge of automotive development processes and functional safety.
- RF analog circuit design experience, particularly at 10GHz+ frequencies.
- Expertise in using Cadence tools (IC6) and Calibre.
- Fluent in both spoken and written English. - Experience in 22nm FDSOI or other sub-45nm CMOS processes. - Knowledge of production release and qualification processes. - Proficiency in EM modeling tools (RFPro or EMX).
