Role: Mechanical Design Engineer
Duration: 6 Months
Location: Central London (3 days onsite and 2 days remote)

The client uses Solid works
A client based in London is looking for Mechanical Design Engineer for an initial 6 month contract.
• Produce manufacturing drawings of current module designs capturing critical details as described by the module design authority
• Process engineering change requests (ECR) when instructed by an engineering change order (ECO)
• Deliverables.
• Design updates as instructed by the design authority or ECR.
• Manufacturing drawings of piece parts completed on company standard drawing templates to BS8888
• General assembly drawings completed on company standard drawing templates to BS8888
• Tolerance stack up analysis to validate any critical dimensions specified on drawings
• GD&T completed on drawings as required from tolerance stack up analysis to ensure adequate control of manufactured parts
• Quotation for manufacture of enclosures from suitable vendor
• Generation of detailed product concept models sufficient to complete simulations to assess product viability and optimisation options
• Produce simplified component models to reduce the computational complexity of the system during simulation
• Manage the general assembly updated inherited from subcontractor design activities
• Deliverables
• General assembly models for various system design approaches
• Simplified PCB models and sub-assemblies with evidence presented on assumptions and justification for simplifications
• Preliminary BOMs and intended manufacturing techniques for each item
• Outline summary of manufacturing complexity expected for each component item such that supplier selection can commence with the operations team
Skills:
• Minimum 10+ years leading the mechanical design of Aerospace hardware and/or complex electro-mechanical systems
• Competent in a variety of modelling techniques including surface modelling
• Product development of RF communications or other high frequency electronics.
• Experience in designing for a range of manufacturing processes
• Experience of mechanical integration of electronic component into assemblies.
• Experience of environmental test methods for design verification and certification
• Knowledge and experience of BS8888
• Knowledge and experience of engineering drawings using GD&T
• Experience of tolerance stack up analysis
