We’re looking for a Senior Photonics Engineer to join a cutting-edge team in Ghent. This is your chance to work on next-generation photonic technologies, leading groundbreaking projects from concept to reality.
What You’ll Be Doing:
Collaborate with a dynamic team of photonic engineers and product designers to develop an advanced silicon photonics platform.
Lead innovative R&D projects, transforming ideas into real-world products.
Design and model state-of-the-art photonic components and circuits.
Develop and analyze test plans to optimize performance.
Explore and define new PIC-based system architectures for game-changing applications like 6G photonics, RF/mmWave photonics, 3D/4D imaging, reservoir computing, and advanced sensors.
Work closely with component/module, processing, and test teams to bring designs to life.
Depending on your strengths and interests, focus on either next-gen product development or cutting-edge research for future applications.
What We’re Looking For: You’re not just an engineer – you’re a problem solver, innovator, and team player.
Essential Skills & Experience:
Deep knowledge of integrated optics and optoelectronics.
PhD in Photonics, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related field (or 2+ years of relevant industry experience).
Experience designing and testing silicon photonics and III-V components.
Strong background in PIC-based system modeling for data processing and sensing applications.
Proven project management skills – you know how to take an idea and turn it into a reality.
Ability to conduct technical feasibility studies and market analysis.
Experience securing funding and resources for R&D projects.
Hands-on expertise with photonics modelling tools (Photon Design, Lumerical, COMSOL, CST).
Experience with layout tools (Tanner L-Edit, Luceda IPKISS).
Bonus points for Python skills and additional experience with Luceda IPKISS.
