Role Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Research Engineer to join our AI research team, with a focus on information retrieval and generative AI models. This role is integral to designing and building intelligent systems that power retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) and multimodal AI experiences.
You will work alongside researchers, engineers, and scientists to create scalable, high-performance solutions using large-scale datasets and state-of-the-art machine learning techniques. A particular emphasis will be placed on scenarios involving multimodal inputs, requiring the system to understand and process more than just text.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and optimize information retrieval models to support RAG systems.
- Improve LLM reasoning capabilities and minimize hallucinations to enhance the user experience.
- Conduct research in advanced NLP, machine learning, and information retrieval techniques.
- Develop scalable algorithms for both real-time and batch data processing.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate RAG technologies into production-ready applications.
- Collect, clean, and analyze large datasets to inform model development.
- Benchmark model performance using internal metrics and public datasets.
- Stay up to date with the latest advancements in AI, ML, NLP, and IR.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field with a focus on NLP, ML, or IR.
- Strong programming skills in Python, with experience in PyTorch or similar ML frameworks.
- Deep understanding of modern deep learning architectures (e.g., Transformers, BERT, GPT).
- Proven research experience, including publications in top-tier conferences or journals.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
- Comfortable working both independently and in collaborative, fast-paced environments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Practical experience with Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR).
- Expertise in retrieval-based models such as vector space models, BM25, and neural retrieval methods.
- Familiarity with knowledge bases, information extraction, and question-answering systems.
