As a Senior Research Engineer, you will:
•Design, develop and improve compression algorithms and codebases (mainly written in C++).
•Design new tools and strategies for efficient processing and compression of images, videos and data (Python, C++).
•Help develop technical contributions to standardization organizations, workshops and similar.
•Design, implement and evaluate algorithm and present development outcomes to key stakeholders.
•Mentor junior engineers of the research team, contribute to code reviews and technical discussions.

Qualifications
Background and Experience

•A degree in either Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related discipline.
•Industry experience in a Senior R&D engineering role.
•Proficiency in C++ and Python
•Prior experience with designing/implementing image/video processing algorithms; preferably experience with video compression algorithms.
•Good algorithmic design, math and data analysis skills; good problem-solving skills.
•Ability to prioritise tasks based on impact and efficiency, with a focus on results.
•Experience of delivering complex projects and tasks to an agreed time scale.

We would love it if you had:
•Understanding of existing image/video coding standards such as JPEG, AVC, HEVC, VVC, VP9, AV1 or equivalent.
•Experience in researching and developing data compression and signal processing algorithms(e.g., video, image, point cloud etc.), gained through university research and/or industry roles.
•Prior experience with GPU programming and/or SIMD intrinsics (SSE/AVX/NEON)
